Welcome to the PIRR – Valeria software download page. This lesson provides the essential software you need to control the Valeria panoramic head used in Panoramic Infrared Reflectography (PIRR), a method for high-resolution infrared imaging of artworks using InGaAs cameras. Valeria automates image capture with your infrared camera, enabling systematic panoramic scans for detailed reflectography. Download the software, unzip the folder, and launch the Panohead Control Panel to get started. This tool is a key part of the PIRR workflow taught in this course.
Unzip the folder. Open the folder “Panohead Control Panel” and click on “Panohead Control Panel.exe”. If your PC does not recognize the system, open the “driver update for Windows PC” folder and double-click on “setup.exe”.
Learn Technical Photography for Art Examination
Technical Photography is one of the most powerful—and often overlooked—tools for the scientific examination of art and archaeology. If you are a conservator, scientist, or art collector and you are not yet familiar with this method, it is truly a missed opportunity. Using simple, affordable equipment and a clear methodology, Technical Photography allows you to reveal underdrawings, retouchings, material differences, and conservation issues in a completely non-invasive way. Far from being complex or inaccessible, it is an easy entry point into scientific analysis. In many cases, Technical Photography represents the first essential step toward a deeper understanding of artworks and archaeological objects.
