Pigments Checker. Spectra Databases now integrated into Spectragryph analysis software!

We partnered with Spectragryph to make available to our community the Pigments Checker free spectral libraries (Raman, XRF and Reflectance spectroscopy), ready-to-use with the new database search function in Spectragryph! Now it is fast to compare your Raman, XRF and Reflectance spectra with Pigments Checker standards.

Spectrapgryph is a fast, efficient and easy to use spectroscopy software. It is Free for private & academic use. We disseminate Spectragryph through our Reflectance Spectroscopy training module. It is a perfect alternative to costly spectroscopy software. Spectragryph allows a complete editing of your spectra from acquisition to editing for publications. You can plot, process, analyze & convert spectral data from practically any formats and combine data from UV/VIS/NIR, FTIR, LIBS, Raman, XRF.

CHSOS Reflectance spectra database tested on malachite with Spectragryph. A malachite spectrum from the large USGS mineral reflectance database searched against our CHSOS reflectance database. The malachite pigment gave the best hit!

For more information on the specifics of the instruments and methods used to acquire the database spectra consult the related papers. The Raman database was acquired at 3 laser wavelengths and was published as “Pigments Checker version 3.0, a handy set for conservation scientists: A free online Raman spectra database” in Microchemical Journal 129, 123–132 (2016).  The Reflectance spectra database was published as: A. Cosentino “FORS spectral database of historical pigments in different binders” e-conservation Journal 2, 57–68, 2014. The XRF spectra database is described in: R. Larsen, N. Coluzzi, A. Cosentino, “Free XRF Spectroscopy Database of Pigments Checker” International journal of Conservation Science 7 (3) 659-668, 2016..
