PR 175 – Benzimidazolone Red HFT is a high-performance synthetic organic pigment belonging to the benzimidazolone azo pigment family, developed to overcome the lightfastness and durability limitations of traditional azo reds. Introduced in the late 20th century, PR 175 reflects advances in pigment design aimed at combining strong chroma with excellent long-term stability.

Chromatically, PR 175 presents a clean, intense mid-to-bluish red, often described as a bright yet balanced red with good depth in masstone. It is typically semi-opaque to opaque, offering strong covering power and high tinting strength. Compared to naphthol or conventional disazo reds, benzimidazolone red HFT shows greater clarity and less tendency toward dulling in mixtures. It mixes reliably with yellows to produce saturated oranges and with blues or blacks to yield stable violets and deep, neutralized reds.

From a technical standpoint, PR 175 is valued for its excellent lightfastness, thermal stability, and resistance to chemicals and migration.
