Interactive Photo Imaging by Moshe Caine

Sometime before Christmas, Moshe Caine, college professor of Photography, wrote me to ask if I were interested to contribute to his new work, a free electronic ibook for iPad: “Interactive photo imaging”, an interactive textbook for students of photography and interactive media. Of course, I was more than pleased and I provided some material regarding multispectral imaging for art examination.

Chapter 7. Multispectral Imaging. i was pleased to be invited to contribute material for this iBook, “Interactive Photo Imaging”.

The iBook was published Jan 13th 2013 and you can freely download it on your iPad from here. I strongly encourage anybody to give it a glance. The section regarding multispectral imaging is just introductory. The stated focus of this work is to provide “a comprehensive overview of the transition of the digital photographic and imaging technologies from a passive medium to one where the creator and user alike may interact with the visual content and extract a richer comprehension of the content and context”.

Well, you already know my style, so this definition it’s a bit over my head, ahaha, but I assure you the iBook is rich with inspiring ideas to make creative and geeky photography with plenty of references and interactive links.

“Interactive Photo Imaging” is an iBook with plenty of interactive tools such as this one to switch among multispectral images.

Particularly interesting chapter 3, “Interacting with Space”, with insights into Panoramic VR, Object VR, virtual tours, Photosynth, 3D photo modeling and light field photography.

Chapter 9, “Interacting with Time”, covers Time Lapse Photography and could be inspiring for applications in conservation…

Enjoy this FREE reading. Thanks, Moshe!

    1. Hi Carolina, always nice to hear from you. I know about the problem on that book, actually, soon after I published the post, Moshe told me that – for some reason – the book can be downloaded only from USA, Canada, and some other countries. I didn’t have any problem though when i downloaded it from Italy. But that could be since I bought my iPad in US..? Sorry, I cannot help further.

  2. Hi Carolina.
I just happened upon your post a few minutes ago (sorry I’m so late).
Yes. This download issue with Apple is most frustrating. Just to put things into perspective, even I, who published the book, can not download it from where I live, Israel.
For that reason I put it also on another website, Bookry.

Go into the website from your iPad.
You can download it freely from there without any limitations.
    Hope you enjoy the book.
    All the best.
    Moshe

  3. Hello,
My comment is not directly relevant to this web page, but I did not know how else to reach you. On this page: http://www.judaica-badneustadt.de/de/institutions/school/School.html, there is a photograph of someone identified as “Hermann Dorfzaun”. The photograph actually is a picture of Hermann’s brother Leopold Dorfzaun. Leopold was my great-grandfather, and I submitted that photograph to another website several years ago. Please correct this error. Thank you.
